| Short info | The Z8000-MPB/256 board is part of the "Z8000® Dual-Processor System Upgrade Package", a cheap entry level solution into the world of 16bit processing. It works on the most MCZ and PDS systems. The Package contains the Z8000-MPB/256 board and software. |
| Operation | When the Z8000® is running, the Z80® RIO system acts as a
slave processor to serve the console and disk I/O operations. Without running the Z8000® the MCZ or PDS works as a normal RIO system. |
| Hardware | The Z8000-MPB/256 contains a 6MHz Z8001 CPU and 256KiB of dynamic RAM. A 1KiB static RAM acts as a FIFO for inter-CPU block transfers between the Z8000® processor and the RIO system. |
